Quiet is the alter ego of Lorenzo Cercelletta, designer with over 10 years of work experience, three degrees in design and an inquisitive mind.
Born on the border between Italy and Slovenia in Gorizia, a city split in two much like Berlin, I grew up around Rome, where most of my family comes from.
Similar to many people of the WWII generation, my grandparents were quite industrious with a predisposition for business and inventions. That’s probably what sparked my interest in why things work the way they do and what makes them what they are.
Drawing was my earliest outlet, as for my father and his father before him, so design seemed like a good choice later on. All my other passions came from my mother and grandmother. They taught me everything there is to love about life and the fulfilment hard work can provide.
In my life, I’ve had a good share of family troubles, health issues, sport injuries, and serious surgeries. That afforded me many opportunities to assess what is truly important and how I choose to spend the precious time I have.
I dedicate myself to a few selected projects a year, possibly at an early stage, when ideas are at their fullest potential. Being an external collaborator to clients allows me to cut through the politics and get the job done. It’s a win-win situation.
Having worked with local and international companies, agencies, startups, non-profits, musicians and artists of all trades, I’ve learnt a thing or two about what works, what doesn’t and, most importantly, what makes me tick. Quiet is the result of this continuous process.
